The Rivals by Vi Keeland - Book Review

The Rivals by Vi Keeland #1 New York Times Bestselling author ; war has never been so sexy

Synopsis

A sexy, enemies-to-lovers standalone novel from #1 New York Times Bestseller, Vi Keeland.

The feud between Weston Lockwood and me started at the altar. Only neither of us attended the wedding, and the nuptials happened decades before either of us was born. Our grandfathers had been best friends and business partners, at least up until my grandfather’s wedding day—when his bride-to-be blurted out she couldn’t marry him because she was also in love with Weston‘s grandfather.

The two men spent years fighting over Grace Copeland, who also happened to be their third business partner. But in the end, neither man could steal half of her heart away from the other. Eventually, they all went their separate ways. Our grandfathers married other women, and the two men became one of the biggest business rivals in history. Our fathers continued the family tradition of feuding. And then Weston and I did, too. For the most part, we kept as much distance as possible.

Until the day the woman who started the feud died—and unexpectedly left one of the most valuable hotels in the world to our grandfathers to share. Now I’m stuck in a hotel with the man I was born to hate, trying to unravel the mess our families inherited. As usual, it didn’t take long for us to be at each other’s throats. Weston Lockwood was everything I hated: tall, smart, cocky, and too gorgeous for his own good. We were fire and ice. But that shouldn’t be an issue. Our families were used to being at war. There was just one minor problem, though. Every time Weston and I fought, we somehow wound up in bed.

Hello friends and lovers,

The holidays are closing in and people are looking for recommendations. Look no further my blog is filled with all sorts of steamy rated romances for you! From the taboo to the steamy-ish!

The Rivals by Vi Keeland was a fantastic enemies to lovers romance novel where the Lockwood and the Sterlings are a feuding family who throw two of their own into a bidding war for who will win the majority share ownership of a third hotel, The Countess. Will it be Westin or Sophia who win the majority in the end? Or will their forbidden love conquer the war between their families?

This was a brilliant enemies to lovers book that had all the sweet dirty talk you can imagine. This is the second book of Vi Keeland that I’ve read and she excels at dirty talk with her steamy scenes.

I enjoyed the location of the sex scenes, basement laundry room of the hotel being the best. They have a bit of a dominatrix type of play, but very, very, VERY tame.

There isn’t anything bad I can say about this book, I mean… the cover with Westin says it all. He’s a fucking hot piece of ass (sorry I know that’s a bit much, but that’s just my potty mouth for ya!)

I highly recommend the read if you’re looking for something in the enemies to lovers genre that is steamy but not over the top.

What I Enjoyed:

  • Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes!

What I Didn’t Like:

  • I wish there was a bit more of a build up between the enemies portion. Sophia was always hesitant but Westin was all in right away. He has his reasons but I wish their hate sex could be justified more.

  • I enjoyed their creative spots they would find themselves in for their sexy scenes (listed above).

Rating: 💋💋💋💋/ 5

Steamy Rating: 💋💋💋💋/ 5

  • A four on the steamy eating for dirty talk. I like when scenes are steamy and detailed and this doesn’t have the type of detail I’d give a five star to. But the dirty talk is where it’s at with Vi Keeland!
